LaMer 38 Residential Villa

LaMer 38 Residential Villa project commissioned by Eedeh Properties LLC. Located on a private plot within La Mer South Island (developed by Meraas) along the coastline of Dubai's Downtown Jumeirah district, this house spans 510 m² on a 750 m² site. In a region dominated by a mediocre luxury aesthetic, the design adopts a vernacular contemporary approach that thoughtfully integrates local and sustainable methods, materials, and textures. The architectural layout features an inner courtyard positioned on the south-central façade, with room units detached from one another to create a spacious ambiance accentuated by high ceilings. The courtyard façade is crafted with deep shading grids, glass bricks, and modern stained glass, resulting in a dynamic interplay of light and shadow. Externally, the use of brick, plaster, and concrete adds a tactile richness to the building's appearance.

Tradition in Flux

A home upon a floating isle, shaping its own privacy amid the open expanse. Within, spaces unfold like a quiet journey — a silent luxury.

Elements Enclosed

A fluid form shaped by the meeting of wood, fired clay, and concrete — a minimal shell that conceals a world of unexpected moments within.

Merging Hues

The home, wrapped in green as if it were one of its own elements, merges with the garden to dissolve boundaries — the flow culminating in the tranquil presence of water within a rooftop pool.

At the basement level, a sunken garden connected to the inner courtyard offers fully permeable glass façades, providing shelter from the hot climate while facilitating natural ventilation throughout the house. By situating the living area, dining room, and kitchen on the northern façade, the design minimizes exposure to the harsh sun, further mitigated by shading extensions ranging from 2 to 4 meters. Breeze blocks are employed in areas close to neighboring parcels to ensure privacy without compromising airflow.

A notable aspect of the project development was the rapid client feedback enabled by artificial intelligence-supported visualization, planning, and presentation methods. This innovative approach allowed the exploration of at least twice the number of design options, materials, and textures typically produced within a standard project timeline. By overcoming the usual budget and time constraints associated with architectural visualization, the team swiftly considered numerous approaches for the planned structure.It is one of the first global examples showcasing what architects can achieve using AI-supported design methods.
